About Warwick

Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire, is steeped in history and its stunning castle and architecture continue to attract tourist from around the globe. The town centre is famed for its historic architecture, some of which dates back to medieval times.

A great fire destroyed much of Warwick in the mid 17th century and consequently most of the buildings in the town centre are of late 17th and 18th century origin. Although a number of even older buildings can still be found around the edges of the town centre.

Warwick lies upon the River Avon and is today home to a population of around 26,000 people who enjoy the areas history, culture, thriving nightlife and its growing restaurant and bar scene. Warwick School is reputed to be one of the oldest public schools in England and the area attracts many day trippers who come to see Warwick Castle and the many antique, craft and gift shops.

Its rich history and culture mean the town has always been a fashionable residential location for those working in the Midlands. In more recent times, its proximity to the M40 motorway and the opening of the Warwick Parkway train station in 2000 have led to its growth in popularity with commuters working in Birmingham and London.

Housing

Warwick’s housing stock is rich and varied with buildings dating back to the 17th century.

The Bridge End and Mill Street areas of the town are some of the most desirable locations in the county boasting a variety of exclusive period housing.

There are also many attractive and well-preserved Victorian terraced cottages and old municipal buildings, which have been lovingly converted to satisfy the demand for more modern city-living style apartments. A variety of retail and residential schemes are also being planned for the canal-side area.

Warwick continues to thrive and a great deal of development work is taking place on the Birmingham and Stratford borders to provide more modern and affordable family developments.
