Stratford

About Stratford-upon-Avon

Famous across the world as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford upon Avon and its environs are currently home to around 25,000 permanent residents.

This bustling and picturesque tourist town offers Elizabethan streets, elegant buildings, and sites of interest at every corner to entertain both the locals and the areas’ two million annual visitors.

Stratford’s excellent restaurants, wine bars and shopping make it an attractive place to live and the town is particularly popular with the 50+ age group.

It has built a reputation for its low crime rate, excellent schools and convenient transport links making it an increasingly popular area for those looking to commute across the midlands.

Housing

Stratford offers a real mixture of housing types and ages, although because of the tourist nature of the area there is little residential space available in the town centre.

Close to the town there is a good stock of Victorian terraced cottages giving way further out to larger Edwardian and period properties around Welcombe Road.

The past five years have seen a real boost to the areas housing stocks with a couple of large-scale modern developments underway around Banbury Road and more planned for other parts of the town. The buy to let market also remains healthy in the area.
