Royal Leamington Spa

About Leamington Spa

The elegant and well-healed Regency town of Royal Leamington Spa is famous for its stunning Georgian and Victorian town houses and architecture. The area came to prominence in the early 19th century due to the reputed healing properties of its Spa Waters and the popular Royal Pump Rooms, which have recently been refurbished.

Modern Leamington is home to a population of around 50,000 and is one of the Midlands’ most popular shopping areas, whilst also being a fashionable night time destination for its bars, restaurants night clubs and cinemas.

Housing remains exclusive throughout Leamington and in recent years the town has become popular with young professionals attracted to the quality of accommodation and facilities available in the town centre. Whilst some of the traditional Regency terraces have remained as large family homes, a number have been converted into high specification apartment buildings.

The town underwent significant family housing development during the post war period with Lillington and Cubbington to the north and Whitnash to the south expanding steadily. More latterly, at the turn of this last century, significant development has continued, particularly in the Whitnash and Heathcote districts. The town offers a plentiful supply of larger four and five bedroom properties.

Shopping continues to be one of the town’s major draws with facilities located around the attractive Regency period Parade area, which is home to the famous Royal Priors Shopping Centre.

Investment continues to pour into the area and a new development planned for a site close to the Regent Hotel will cement Leamington’s reputation as a premier shopping destination.
